3/9/2015· A common mill gap setting for homebrewers is 0.038 inches. My system recirculates the mash and in order to make sure my mash doesn’t stick or channel I use a gap of 0.045 inches. In order to measure and set a gap that small you will want to use a feeler gauge.

7/30/2013· I have the Barley Crusher mill & do PB/PM BIAB in my 5 gallon SS kettle. I use the factory lash of .039" & it works great. compared to what I was doing. My OG's are def up a few points as a result. The notches on the roller adjusters is for the factory .039" setting. It worked really well on my PM Berlin Wheat kits as well.
9/6/2013· Try tightening your gap, don't worry about how your crush looks relative to your old corona mill. I have used a barley crusher for about 4 years. I tightened mine up from the factory setting to about .032". It worked great and gave me great efficiency (80-85%) for about three years and has been slowly wearing out over the last year or so.
BIAB’ers should be able to mill fairly finely tightening the gap till somewhere in the 80% mash efficiency range or higher. Most cooler mash and batch sparge folk may need a middle ground, not all flour, but a good fine crush. Malt conditioning may really help here tightening up the gap while leaving more intact husks.

I'm finally going to move forward with my first Hefeweizen next weekend and I'd like to get a finer crush on the wheat compared to the pils malt.

The Barley Crusher instructions say that the gap is pre-set at .039″, but after measuring it I found that it was actually at .035″. A smaller gap will give you a finer crush which usually boosts
