Scantogo will supply clinker to HeidelbergCement’s West African cement grinding mills in Togo, Benin, Burkina Faso, and Ghana, partly replacing clinker that has previously been imported from overseas. HeidelbergCement has been present in Togo since 1984 with the Cimtogo grinding works in Lomé.
The location for one of the units is within the Coega Industrial Zone 5, 6km east of Motherwell, Port Elizabeth, South Africa. This unit will produce 150tph of cement and will have storage for up to 20,000t of cement and a combined 0.1Mta storage capacity for clinker and slag.

This will not only put additional pressure on the Meghalaya plant (until company comes up with 2MnTPA of Clinker capacity at Meghalaya plant), but will also add transportation cost of Rs 1400-1500 per ton.
